Volunteers will be provided a continental breakfast each day. Breakfast will include staples such as cereals, milk, toast, peanut butter, jam, oatmeal, tea and coffee. There will be a rotating fresh fruit served daily such as bananas, watermelon, oranges, apples or mango. In addition there will be one other daily rotating item such as french toast, meat pies, hash browns, pancakes, chicken sausage, muffins, doughnut, smoothies, juices or yogurt.
Unlimited clean drinking water will be provided.
Lunch will not be provided by the organization. Volunteers can choose to buy lunch near to their individual programs or prepare something at the house to take with them. We find most volunteers eat a large breakfast and are full until dinner time.
Dinner will be provided daily at the volunteer residence. This is a fun mix of local foods as well as some western style dishes. Examples of typical dinners include, coconut chicken curry, red red (a popular dish made from black eyed peas, tomatoes and spices) fried rice with chicken, waakye, jollof rice, tortilla wrap, potato chips with vegetable salad and chicken and many other great dishes. Although it is difficult to find gluten free options in Kumasi our cook will work with you to provide meals that fit your dietary restrictions. We will also do our best to accommodate vegans and vegetarians, please indicate any dietary restrictions when you sign up.
