International Volunteers Experience The Culture of Ghana
Volunteering with The Sunshine Volunteers Organization in Ghana consists for more than just program placement. One of our popular activities is a cultural experience.
International Volunteers had the opportunity to visit the Adinkra village to learn about the Adinkra symbols as well as make their own patterns with local people from the village.
Volunteers also visited the Adanwomase village to learn about how traditional Kente Cloth is made and even got hands on experience with the weaving process!
The local cultural village troupe taught volunteers some basic traditional dances also while we were here!
Volunteers then visited a local cocoa farm to learn about Ghana’s rich cocoa production history as well as learn about all of it’s by-products made in Ghana. There was even an opportunity to try raw cocoa bean!
Volunteers finally visited the Manhyia Palace Museum to learn about the Ashanti culture and traditions.
Do you want to experience this for yourself? Then register for one of our volunteering programs today for an adventure you will never forget!
