International Volunteers Teach Upcycling Skills in Ghana
Students from New Mingle Kids Academy in Kumasi, Ghana were thrilled to partake in a skills workshop on upcycling led by two international volunteers.
Francine and Carole, both from Switzerland, led the skills session as part of their volunteering program with The Sunshine Volunteers Organization.
The class taught the kids the importance of repurposing and reusing plastic due to the adverse it can have on the environment. Plastic waste is a big issue in Ghana, especially, with the rise of global warming.
In this session Francine & Carole worked with the students from New Mingle Kids Academy to upcycle used plastic cutlery into wall decorations. Combining important education with creativity and fun.
Everyone involved had a fantastic time, and the finished pieces are not just sustainable, but true pieces of art. If you are interested in working on a similar project, why not volunteer with us? You can check out the Early Childhood Education Program here!
