International Volunteers Offer Extra Support To Students With Learning Difficulties in Ghana.

International Volunteers offered additional support to students with learning difficulties from New Mingle Kids Academy in Kumasi, Ghana. Learning one-on-one or even in small groups is usually something very uncommon for most local schools. Most classes are usually in groups of 30-40 children, if not more.

Birgit, from Germany and Zoe, from the UK as part of their Early Childhood program with The Sunshine Volunteers Organization ran additional support sessions, to teach much needed skills that these students were unable to be picked up in a mainstream class, due to their learning difficulties. There is a misunderstanding of learning difficulties in Ghana, and therefore this was a really meaningful exchange opportunity

Both Birgit and Zoe taught crucial skills to enhance knowledge of identifying numbers, recognising letters of the alphabet and naming fruits and vegetables. The impact on the students was significant and a huge positive change was noticed from staff.

The students enjoyed the extra support sessions so much that they haven’t stopped asking when they will get more and really loved the company of Birgit and Zoe.

Their next session could be ran by you! If your interested in joining the Early Childhood Education program, click here!
